Group band Kotak tebentuk berawal dari adanya kontes Dream Band pada tahun tahun 2004, dan Bisa dibilang, tanpa adanya Dreamband 2004 enggak bakalan ada band yang bernama Kotak. Kotak sebagai juara mendapatkan kesempatan dibuatkan album solo berjudul sama. Dengan formasi dua cowok, dua cewek memang Kotak cukup memikat dengan gaya gothicnya.

Menurut friendster mereka, kotak berarti 4 sisi dan 4 sudut yang bersatu menjadi bidang kotak yang menggambarkan 4 orang yang berbeda tuh bersatu dalam 1 wadah musik

Basis Kotak Band ini punya nama lengkap Swasti Sabdastantri, namun akrab dipanggil Chua. Chua merupakan personil baru di Kotak yang mulai main di album kedua band ini. Sejarah bassis di band yang mengusung jenis musik modern rock dengan nuansa “dark” tersebut cukup panjang. Formasi awal band, posisi bass Kotak Band dipegang oleh Prinzes “Icez” Amanda yang sekarang udah gabung sama The Rock Indonesia. Setelah Ices, muncul personel baru bernama Nissa Hamzah, yang sekarang dikabarkan telah bergabung dengan Omellete Band.

Chua sebagai bassist baru Kotak Band memiliki ciri khas, selain wajahnya yang cantik, cewek yang kabarnya merupakan murid kesayangan Henry Boomerang ini memakai senar bas DR string yang red beauty yang tampak berwarna pink. Nggak cuma senar aja, rupanya body gitar bas kesayangannya juga di custom dengan warna hitam dan garis-garis pink cerah, menandakan karakter Cua yang ceria.
